One.org

Indonesia's campaign is now active and has been launched under the name of 'Stop Pemiskan'.

To find out more and get involved please email: Avi Mahaningtyas at avi@indo.net.id

Campaign update
Groups in Indonesia have come together as part of GCAP to call for debt cancellation, shelter for all, universal education and real action to combat poverty. On 13th-14th January, 30 organizations came together for a GCAP workshop in Jakarta.
The organizations involved included those working on urban issues, the environment, micro credit, community empowerment, faith-based groups, HIV/AIDS, women and gender issues, health, debt and globalization. With these groups having such a bredth of knowledge, there is real hope that they can influence policy makers in their country. At the meeting the groups agreed to launch the "STOP PEMISKINAN" campaign on 19th January 2005 and to use the white band as the symbol.

5 years Later

Five Years Later, and Still the
Same Anti-Elián Rationalizations

by David M. Brown

Parenthood is not a license to kill.

– 05-20-05 –

The books I'm recommending this week are anything reliable about communism, logic, and/or why you might prefer life in America to life in a nation-wide slave camp. Let's throw in a good dictionary just for good measure.

I received an email the other day about a piece that lawyer-writer Hank Holzer had published at FrontPage Magazine. His article reminds us that it has been five years since the innocent Cuban child Elián Gonzalez was sent back to Cuba at the behest of the morally turpitudinous Clinton Administration and the creature that was his Attorney General.

...union

after i saw Tsunami - Survival Stories on Discovery Chanel

... what i can't understand sometimes is

why we need such a disaster like tsunami, wtc air hijacking, or whatever to make they work together without seeing what their nationality or what their social status are.

they just do it without thinking what they will get and what tehy will loss

they just do.

why this world can't do that and have the feeling or together without such a disaster happen?

mmm...

i dunno

So Here It Is, Ayn Rand on Nathaniel Branden, Circa 1986

So Here It Is, Ayn Rand on
Nathaniel Branden, Circa 1968

by David M. Brown

Plumbing the depths of the soap opera with a fine-tooth partisan comb.

– 04-22-05 –

Dorothy Parker once said of a novel that it was not a book to be tossed aside lightly, but thrown with great force.

Here comes a book, not a novel, holding a morbid fascination for those interested in the life of Ayn Rand (1905-1982) and in the Objectivist movement born of her ideas and the organizational efforts of her erstwhile disciple, psychologist Nathaniel Branden, who met her when he was twenty and Rand was forty-five. The Passion of Ayn Rand's Critics by James S. Valliant is an artifact of cultist mentality that should neither be tossed aside lightly nor thrown with great force but lifted by thumb and forefinger and dropped into the garbage chute across the hall. One can virtually hear the author yelling from the bleachers, cheering Ayn Rand on as she struggles to make sense of Branden's protestations during the long-drawn-out devolution of their affair; as if she were hitting lobs out of the park with each new observation and query.

There is a case to be made for publishing these excruciating notes, much as one suspects she would have preferred they never see the light of day. It is the only "response" Ayn Rand can ever make to the accounts published years later by Nathaniel Branden and Barbara Branden. Unless, of course, one regards James Valliant as channeling Miss Rand's ghost.

The first half of the book is a kind of tediously belabored book review of Barbara Branden's The Passion of Ayn Rand (1986), Nathaniel Branden's Judgment Day (1989), and "In Answer to Ayn Rand" (1968), the Brandens' response to an attack by Rand in The Objectivist. One debunking chapter, "Less Than Zero," expends ink on the question of how Rand picked the name "Rand" (she had been born Alice Rosenbaum); it apparently wasn't based on the typewriter, contrary to what Barbara Branden suggests in her biography. Well, assuming that Barbara Branden credited testimony she should not have credited, could this simply be an innocent mistake?

Paris Trips

I arrived on 12pm that day in paris. The weather not quite good actually cloudy, but on the way there, the sun shines sometimes. After checking in and rest a while, we went to see eiffel tower, which unfortunately the lines to get up by elevator is too long.
So i didn't go up that day. Take another trem to The Notredame then proceed to Place de la concorde which in the middle betwen the Louvre and Arc De Triomphe. Nothing much to do because the day already late.

Back to the hotel, to clean up a bit, and of course we went to dinner. Chinese restaurant.

On the way back to hotel after dinner, we just realized that we live closed to to Famous Moulin Rouge so i take some pictures there, but do no 'shopping' of course as you know.

The 2nd day, we woke up late. Tired.
But persistence and go to Eiffel tower. Already again. Crowded, Long lines... so we decide to go to one floor by stairs. imagine your self.... hahah i will not do it again. really it's a long way...
At the 1st floor they have machine to go up again higher but bad... the machine only accept visa card. my friend only have master card and american express and cash, me have visa and cahs but my visa kind a over limit already or not able to used.. so we go down... again by stairs.
Nausea a bit

After that, take trem to go to Harley Store to buy t's for my friend, she give me money to buy so i go buy... hahha
and do sight seeing around the place.

And back to the louvre since the museum is so big to finish in one day...
then we do my favorite activity.
Shopping!!!

So walk frm Place de la Concorde to Arc De Triomphe which pas Champ Ellysee with so many shopping centre. But Me being asian still have problems. SO no size.

Go back to hotel with only one t'shirt, my size and something i can afford. Not live LV bags or whatever that the price is unbelieveable expensive.

Better go to china for it. Cheaper not really different. :)
A copy of course but at least no body call me crazy if i buy small purse for 700 Euro

Then Sleep at hotel with pain on my legs

Waking up late, almost can't walk, and cheking out from hotel and still have to visit Sacre Ceuor

We drive to go back by Brussel to have a quick peak there and finnaly we're there. You know what they have that day?
Brussel Gay Pride 2005

Then driving home to netherlands...

Amazing experiance and lovely i want to do that again. No matter the same city or have to be different.

Ciao

In this life...

... nothing is easy.

feel gifted everyday by having the angels
but must not hurt them

have more than one is more difficult to deal
than gifted by one only.

i'm only human
not perfect
not even fully content
noone does...

weak side always there

never want to hurts other
even only a tiny bite

but i'm not angel
not even a prince charming

all i can say
I'm so sorry..
i never meant to
